Bring on the glitter pocket bling with this quick tutorial
The popular sequin pocket T-shirts that were so trendy this past fall is back for summer, but this time glitter vinyl is bringing the shimmer. Glitter pockets are a great way to update old tank tops or add life to bargain T-shirts. This DIY trend can be accomplished quickly and doesn’t even require a vinyl cutter.
DIY Glitter Pockets
What You’ll Need:
- Siser Glitter heat transfer vinyl
- Scissors or a vinyl cutter
- Heat Press or Home Iron
- Heat Transfer Cover Sheet
- Ruler
Step 1: Measure your pocket.
My pocket measures 3 inches by 3 inches.
Step 2: Cut your vinyl square.

To cut Glitter HTV on your Silhouette, place the glitter side face down on the mat and cut with the blade exposed at 3, Speed at 5, and Thickness set to 33.
I like to be exact so I created a 3×3 square in Silhouette Studio and cut it out using the Silhouette Cameo.
Step 3: (optional) Weed any excess material from the outside of the square.
Step 4: Heat Apply!
Set your heat press temperature to 320°F. For a home iron, use the wool setting and no steam. Always cover your materials with a heat transfer cover sheet or parchment paper before applying heat. Press for 10-15 seconds with firm pressure.
Step 5: Peel Carrier Sheet
Glitter is a warm peel, so remove the carrier sheet from the heat transfer vinyl after its cooled for a couple seconds and your trendy top is finished!
Step 6: Wear it!

Can you say #selfie?
I love the way the glitter pocket updates this basic tank top into something a little more fun and sparkly. Plus I adore Jade Glitter. It’s refreshing and reminds me of a tropical vacation, which, as you can see by my ghostly complexion, I have not been on lately.
