Introducing 12″x 5 yard EasyWeed Rolls

EasyWeed can now perfectly fit your 12″ Silhouette, Cricut, or Brother Scan N Cut cutting mat with no trimming required! I’m really excited about this new offering because not only does it save you production time and create less wasted material; 12 inch EasyWeed rolls are also compatible with the Silhouette Roll Feeder! Cutting without the mat and cutting longer than the mat is easier than ever, so you can create extra large HTV transfers or cut several rows of a smaller design. I’ve talked about cutting HTV without a mat and cutting longer than the mat before in this post that includes a tutorial on the necessary steps to take in Silhouette Studio before setting up the Cameo. If you’re unfamiliar with cutting without the mat I highly suggest you peek at the post.

How to Set Up the Silhouette Roll Feeder

The Silhouette Roll Feeder connects to your Silhouette Cameo 1, 2, or 3 by placing the machine’s feet into the “Cameo” slot.

Place the roll on the wheels and feed the edge underneath the white flap. Make sure the dull side is exposed and the shiny side is face down.

Before feeding the material into the machine, adjust the pinch rollers by lowering the lever that raises the roller bar. Twist the roller until it unlocks and slide it towards the center, then re-lock the roller and raise the lever.

A perfectly straight edge is vital to keep the HTV rolling without shifting. If you have a steady hand and can cut your HTV perfectly straight then go for it. I, on the other hand, need a little help from the cross cutter tool. Fit the cross cutter into the groove of the roll feeder and slide it to the end of the 12″ HTV for a perfect edge!

Using the cross cutter tool to trim the edge of the HTV

Push your vinyl as close as you can to the pinch rollers and make sure there’s an equal amount of HTV margin on each side. For the Silhouette Cameo 1 or 2 select “Load Media” on the machine’s screen. If you’re using the Silhouette Cameo 3 like I am then you’ll simply select “Load.” I like to test my alignment before cutting by using the move arrows on the screen to roll the material back and forth. If it slips off I know I didn’t load the material in straight.Loading heat transfer vinyl into the Cameo evenly

Make sure that you leave plenty of space behind the Silhouette for the heat transfer vinyl. The weight of a large piece of HTV hanging from the back of the Cameo with no support can potentially pull the material off the rollers.

Leave space for the HTV behind the Cameo

When the Cameo finishes cutting select “Unload Media” or “Advance to Crosscutter.” If you send the material forward to the crosscutter, place the tool in the groove on the back of the machine and slide it to cut the finished design away from the remaining roll.
