Sweetheart Pillows with StripFlock® Pro

DIRECTIONS:

Step 1: Click here for the “Sweetheart Pillows” design, then upload into Leonardo® Design Studio or other cutter software.

Step 2: Place the StripFlock Pro onto a cutting mat with the carrier side facing down and load into your Juliet or other cutter, then adjust the cut settings appropriately. (Download the Cutter Settings Chart if you’re unsure of which cut settings to use) Perform test cuts on the edge of the material and continue adjusting the settings as needed until you dial in the proper cut settings. In your cutter software, mirror the design and cut. Remove vinyl from the cutter when finished.

Step 3: Use scissors to cut the designs from the material to save any unused vinyl. Use the EasyWeeder to remove excess material from your designs. Don’t forget the cavities!

Step 4: Once the material has been weeded, measure and cut 2 heart shapes from each of the 4 colors of fabric using fabric scissors, ensuring they are all the same size.

Step 5: Arrange one heart of each color onto the heat press platen and set the heat press to 310°F / 155°C. Pre-press the hearts for a few seconds to remove any wrinkles or moisture.

Step 6: Arrange the StripFlock Pro White designs onto each heart. Cover with parchment paper and press for 15 seconds, then wait an additional 10 seconds before peeling the carriers warm.

Step 7: Using a needle and some thread, sew the 2 hearts together for each color, leaving a 2in (5cm) gap open for stuffing. Next, stuff each of the pillows with the polyester fiber fill via the opening. Once the pillows are at the desired “fluffiness”, sew the gap closed. Your sweetheart pillows are complete!

Tips for this project:

  • StripFlock Pro is a “warm peel” material, which means you should wait at least 10 seconds after pressing to allow it to cool off briefly before peeling the carrier.
  • If you do not have a heat press handy, StripFlock Pro can also be applied using a home iron! Set the iron to the “Cotton” or “Linen” setting and make sure the “Steam” setting is turned off.
  • Not a fan of sewing? You can also make this project by applying the design onto a pre-made pillowcase!
