Weeding: United We Stand – Together We Weed!

Everyone wants to belong. Whether it’s with a certain group of friends, or a club or an online community. People enjoy being with others that share the same interests and like being a part of “something” and having their voice heard. Here at Siser, we’re no exception. We like to be in the company of people who enjoy heat printing, fashion, graphic design and… perhaps most importantly, weeding! Now I know that a lot of people are thinking “oh, I hate weeding”, but compared to a lot of other decoration methods, weeding is one of the easiest methods for getting your designs to the stage where they can be applied to the garment of your choice.

Weeding is as essential to heat printing as burning screens is to screen printing. We all do it and it’s one of those hidden steps that nobody thinks about when they pick up their finished garments. We think about it because we do it every day. Some materials are harder to weed than others and we all have our little workarounds for how we get the material to do what we want when using a weeder or tweezers. Some materials like EasyWeed for example, can make the process easier if you weed your designs over a heated platen. The heat loosens up the adhesive and makes removing the excess material a breeze. Your customers don’t care about it. Your kids don’t care about it… but your friends and colleagues that weed designs on a regular basis care about tips like this.

That’s why every person that weeds needs to band together… show love for this decoration method we’ve chosen… this heat printing process! What better way to show our love for the medium than with our own shirts… that we weeded! Hmmm… wearing a shirt that was weeded… to extoll the virtues of weeding!

I actually created this logo because I’ve been cutting and weeding designs for over 20 years and I wanted a way to communicate with everyone else that I’m a part of something big – that few people know about. It’s like proudly wearing a shirt for your favorite rapper – even though nobody has ever heard of him or her before.
